General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate professional work instructing fourth and fifth grade students on media skills, technology
trends, serving as a media resource to staff, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the
limited supervision of the Elementary Principal.

Instruct fourth and fifth grade students in media skills in six elementary buildings.
Prepare, evaluate and adjust lessons in order to remain current with media and technological advances.
Read and review professional development sites, books and videos.
Serve as a technology resource to teachers and staff.
Support and direct media paraprofessionals with their responsibilities.
Order books and media supplies for six elementary schools.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of district policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of School Crisis Planning Guide and
related emergency documents (evacuation, lockdown, fire, weather); comprehensive knowledge of current
technology and media equipment and trends; general knowledge of financial information; ability to operate cameras,
video cameras and external computer devices; ability to make arithmetic computation and compute ratios; thorough
knowledge of standard office and specific software applications; thorough knowledge of Google Education; ability
to implement and model the “Code of Conduct”; general knowledge of First Aid; ability to establish and maintain
effective and professional relationships with staff, faculty, students and parents.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Media or Technology, or related field and minimal experience, or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or
hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires standing and walking and
occasionally requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting; work
requires close vision, color perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or
exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others
accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work
requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work
occasionally requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective
equipment; work is generally in a quiet location (e.g. library, private offices).
Minnesota Teaching License in Media Education
Valid driver’s license.
