K-12 Art Teacher 1.0 FTE – Blooming Prairie Public Schools
Blooming Prairie Public Schools is accepting applications for a full-time K-12 Art teacher for the 2023-2024 school year to support the vision and mission of Blooming Prairie Public Schools by providing students from kindergarten through grade 12 instruction that is designed to develop an understanding of the creative works and processes of producing visual art forms. The successful candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university and a Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) issued visual arts teaching license. The candidate must also have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with administration, staff, and families.
ISD #756 is a small rural school district in SE MN. We serve approximately 900 students Pre-K – 12. We have seen a gradual increase in the student population over the past several years and are in the middle stages of a building project. We are adding additional classroom space to accommodate our growth along with an auditorium, gym space, flex spacing, art classrooms, renovating our Ag/Industrial Tech spaces, and completing several long-term facility maintenance projects.
Responsibilities include:
1. Curating, distributing, and evaluating Visual Arts curriculum for each grade level to ensure measurable achievement toward content standards as set forth by Minnesota state leading to the credits required for high school graduation.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter through effective teaching practices, with expectations of high student achievement.
3. Build relationships with students. Build community in the classroom and in the school.
4. Demonstrate a high level of skill in the mediums of drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic arts, fiber arts, computer graphics, and video and animation.
5. Promote a safe, equitable, productive, and respectful learning environment by implementing the Prairie Pride (PBIS) guidelines.
6. Working from the needs and strengths of students, including required accommodations for students with 504s or Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
7. Communicating with students, parents, administrators, colleagues, and support staff regarding student progress or needs.
8. Establishing a safe and productive learning environment, including equitable enforcement of rules and procedures.
9. Working within the school community to assist other teachers, administration, and support staff.
10. Focus on improving instructional practice and student learning by participating in professional learning communities, showing professionalism, and growing professionally.
