REPORTS TO: Director of Buildings and Maintenance and Building Principal
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Buildings & Maintenance and guidance of the Building Principal, the Lead Custodian is responsible for leading and coordinating the daily cleaning and maintenance activities within the building for all shifts during assigned shift. Duties and responsibilities include monitoring and ensuring that established standards of cleanliness are maintained; operates and runs building boiler/HVAC equipment and systems; coordinates and monitors work of custodians in a school building to ensure a clean and safe environment.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates, trains and monitors the work of building custodians to ensure that work meets standards.
Operates boiler and machinery in the building. Checks boilers and air handling units. Assists district maintenance specialists in the conduct of building maintenance repairs and activities, as needed.
Coordinates and oversees building security. Assigns, secures and/or opens up building. Shuts off lights, closes windows, locks doors, sets building alarms.
Coordinates and/or participates in the setup and take down of equipment and materials needed for scheduling building activities, meeting, community education classes, events or functions within the building. Provides assistance in unloading deliveries and/or food items to the building and in moving desks, furniture, and equipment within the building.
Coordinates and/or assists in cafeteria set up and cleaning. Sets up tables and chairs for breakfast and lunch. Checks and fills milk coolers. Cleans tables, floors and stores tables/chairs after breakfast meal times. Removes and empties trash.
Coordinates, schedules and participates in extensive summer cleaning schedules, routines and projects in building preparations for the new school year.
Participates in the cleaning of assigned classrooms, floors, offices, restrooms, gyms, hallways or other areas of the building to assure a safe and clean environment in which to learn and work.
Collaborates and works with the Principal, Director of Buildings and Mainteance, Grounds Supervisor or other Lead Custodians to identify special needs, projects or events that impact scheduling, work priorities, and workload requirements.
Maintains a variety of technical or safety logs including, but not limited to: playground safety logs, emergency lighting testing logs, fire extinguisher tags, eye wash inspection tags, safety data sheets, hazardous waste inspection logs, and lift/lift truck inspection logs.
Performs basic repair and preventative maintenance including, but not limited to: filter changes, door locks and closers, cabinets and casework, pencil sharpers, toilet paper and paper towel dispensers, windows, furniture, roofs, coolers and freezers, lockers, custodial equipment, and classroom devices.
Performs snow removal and applies salt to sidewalks and entrances.
Checks, stocks, and maintains an inventory of custodial and maintenance supplies.
Use computer to check emails and respond in an appropriate timeframe.
Performs other duties of a comparable level or type, as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintain a professional relationship with students, faculty, administration and community patrons.
Submit all data and information as requested.
Regularly monitor district email for pertinent communication.
Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and District Administrators.
Complete requested paperwork.
Salary/Benefits
COMPENSATION: $25.47 / Hour
