Job Summary
Discovery Middle School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to join our administrative team as an Assistant Principal. The ideal candidate will support the school’s mission to provide a safe, engaging, and academically challenging environment for all students. This role involves collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and parents to foster a positive school culture and enhance student achievement.
Responsibilities
– Assist the Principal in the overall administration of the school, including curriculum development, staff supervision, and student services.
– Support the implementation of school policies, procedures, and educational programs.
– Collaborate with teachers to develop and evaluate instructional strategies that enhance student learning.
– Monitor student performance and behavior, providing interventions and support as needed.
– Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for staff.
– Engage with parents and the community to promote school initiatives and address concerns.
– Assist in the management of school budgets, resources, and facilities.
– Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of staff members.
– Act as the Principal in their absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making.
– Promote a positive school climate through effective communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building.
Requirements
– Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
– Valid state certification as an Assistant Principal or Principal.
– Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role preferred.
– Strong understanding of educational best practices, curriculum development, and assessment strategies.
– Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
– Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders.
– Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
– Proficient in using technology for educational and administrative purposes.
– Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
