Job Title: Family & Community Engagement Coordinator (Elementary)

Reports To: Building Principal

Position Type: Part-Time, August to May .5 FTE

Location: Woodland Elementary School

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:
The Family & Community Engagement Coordinator serves as the vital bridge between the school, the home, and the broader community. The primary mission of this role is to build a welcoming environment that empowers families as partners in their child’s “whole-child” development—prioritizing both academic success and social emotional well-being. This role is responsible for further developing collaboration and hands-on service learning with students, families and our community.

Key Responsibilities
Family Partnership & Advocacy
Design and implement strategies to increase family attendance at school events, workshops, and decision-making committees.
Act as a liaison to connect families with resources to ensure students arrive at school ready to learn.
Facilitate two-way communication channels that are accessible to all families.
Collaborative Program Development
Develop student leadership opportunities in collaboration with teaching staff.
Develop “Learning Together” nights where families engage in the same hands-on, inquiry-based activities for families
Participate in meetings with staff, students, and PAC to co-create the school engagement
Community & Resource Opportunities
Cultivate relationships with community organizations to support community connections.
Additional Duties As Assigned
Participate in meetings (building staff meetings, departmental meetings, grade level
meetings, staff development, open house/orientation) as necessary or required;
Attend professional development activities, as applicable.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (4-year) in Education, Social Work, Communications, Sociology, or a related field
Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with families.
Self-Directed:  Ability to  launch, plan and facilitate initiatives for students, staff and families.
Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings to accommodate family schedules.
Schedule

A calendar of work days for August through May will collaboratively be established with the building principal.
