We seek a skilled and strategic Director of Finance & Facilities to provide expert leadership in the district’s financial operations and oversee facilities management, ensuring the efficient and effective use of resources.
Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Director of Finance & Facilities plays a critical role in guiding the district’s financial planning, budgeting, compliance, and reporting. This position leads all aspects of financial management with a focus on public finance, while also overseeing the maintenance, safety, and operation of district facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance and Business Services
- Develop, implement, and monitor the district’s annual budget aligned with strategic goals and objectives.
- Oversee revenue forecasting, expenditure tracking, cash flow management, and short-term investment strategies.
- Compile and analyze levy data and provide clear recommendations to the Superintendent and School Board.
- Provides financial data analysis for buildings, programs, and negotiations.
- Plans and coordinates capital purchases for the district.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial laws and regulations.
- Lead and coordinate the annual audit process, serving as the primary liaison with auditors.
- Review and manage property & liability insurance coverage for school facilities and personnel.
- Coordinate school elections and reporting to third-party agencies as required.
- Supervise Business Services, Buildings and Grounds, and Food & Nutrition Services departments, including staff performance evaluations and development.
- Present at School Board meetings and participate in relevant professional organizations.
Facilities and Operations
- Oversee the Building and Grounds Department to ensure safe, healthy, and well-maintained school facilities.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs, and manage major repair and renovation projects.
- Conduct regular inspections of all school buildings and grounds to evaluate maintenance, custodial, and security needs.
- Manage environmental safety programs, including material abatement and air quality testing, to maintain compliance and protect occupant health.
- Chair the District Safety Committee to ensure adherence to all safety policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Monitor facilities-related budgets and expenditures to maintain financial accountability and efficiency.
- Determine and prioritize district-wide maintenance needs and requirements.
- Direct grounds activities and oversee custodial and maintenance functions to maintain optimal facility conditions.
- Ensure all safety and environmental programs comply with state, federal, and local regulations across district sites and facilities.
Compensation Package:
- Starting base salary $120-140K commensurate with experience (year-round position)
