Position: Long-Term Substitute Teacher – Culinary Arts

Location: Alexandria Area High School

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team at Alexandria Area High School as a FACS/Culinary Arts long-term substitute teacher. This position is designed for someone who is enthusiastic about teaching students essential life skills through Family and Consumer Sciences and Culinary Arts. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop critical thinking, creativity, and a love for cooking and nutrition, while also preparing them for future culinary endeavors and life skills.

Responsibilities
– Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards for Family and Consumer Sciences and Culinary Arts.
– Teach students fundamental cooking techniques, food safety, nutrition, and meal planning.
– Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
– Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development.
– Organize and supervise hands-on cooking labs and culinary competitions.
– Collaborate with other educators and staff to integrate interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
– Maintain and manage kitchen equipment and supplies, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
– Stay current with trends in culinary arts and education to continuously enhance the curriculum.
– Engage with parents and the community to promote the importance of culinary education and student achievements.
