Summary
Discovery Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Education Teacher to join our team in a full-time capacity for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate will foster a love for physical activity among students while promoting health, fitness, and teamwork. This role requires a dynamic individual who can engage middle school students in a variety of physical activities and educate them about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Responsibilities
– Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
– Plan and conduct engaging lessons that cater to diverse student abilities and interests, ensuring all students are included and motivated.
– Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents regarding their physical development and participation.
– Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, including sports teams, fitness clubs, and wellness events.
– Collaborate with other educators to integrate physical education concepts into the broader school curriculum.
– Maintain a safe and positive learning environment, ensuring all equipment and facilities are used properly and safely.
– Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in physical education and health education.
– Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a supportive school community.
– Uphold school policies and procedures, including discipline and attendance requirements.

Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
– Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education for middle school levels.
– Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional strategies.
– Experience working with middle school-aged children in an educational setting is preferred.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
– Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and engage with the school community.
– Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
– Commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among students.
– CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
