Bemidji Area Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker to support students’ emotional, social, and academic success. This position serves as the District as the designated Homeless Liaison (McKinney Vento) and Foster Care Point of Contact. The School Social Worker will collaborate with educators, families, and community agencies to address barriers to learning and help students achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
– Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
– Conduct assessments and develop intervention plans to support student well-being.
– Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create strategies that promote a positive school climate.
– Serve as a liaison between school, families, and community services.
– Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on behavioral and emotional needs.
– Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with district policies and applicable laws.
– Respond to crises and provide support in emergency situations.
Qualifications:
– Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
– Valid Minnesota School Social Worker certification/license.
– Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
– Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed practices, and educational systems.
