Location: Blooming Prairie Elementary School

Position Overview: Blooming Prairie Public Schools is accepting applications for an Elementary Physical Education/DAPE Teacher for the 2025-26 school year.

Purpose of Job: To support the vision and mission of Blooming Prairie Public Schools by providing students with instruction that is designed to enhance physical growth and development through learning to move and learning through movement.

Responsibilities:

·         Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter through effective teaching practices, with expectations of high student achievement.

·         Develop effective lesson and unit plans using state and national standards.

·         Promote a safe, equitable, productive, respectful learning environment by implementing the Prairie Pride (PBIS) guidelines.

·         Providing students with the opportunity to be physically active, build confidence, learn different movement skills, and work as a team.

·         Promoting physical activity across the lifespan, using skills learned throughout physical education class.

·         Teach the proper knowledge and skills of physical education.

·         Ability to evaluate all students’ growth in physical skills.

·         Communicate effectively with all students, parents, and staff members.

·         Ability to collaborate with peers.

Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE):

Provide evaluation and specially designed instruction to eligible students from kindergarten through the age of 21 who have a broad range of cognitive disabilities and deficits in adaptive behavior. DAPE teachers collaborate and consult with families, other classroom and special education teachers, and specialized service providers in designing and implementing Individualized Education Program (IEP) plans.

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the education field.

·         Minnesota Teaching License (PELSB) – Physical Education (K-12) and Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE) (PreK-12)

Compensation: $46,527-$80,579 annual salary, determined by licensure and experience
