Primary Responsibilities:

  • Automotive, Construction and Welding class instruction
  • Oversight and management of the automotive/tech annex on-site at Burnsville High School
  • Opportunity to instruction and lead an Automotive Service Excellence ( ASE) certified program.
  • Tech annex contains five vehicle bays, five car lifts, motorcycle lift, custom car paint booth, classroom for on-site instructional area, office space, welding and metal fabrication lab (13 welding booths), curriculum to support the ASE program and multiple machines to support automotive instruction
  • Actively encourage and embrace each member of the school community
  • Create a sense of support that fosters individual growth and pursuit of learning
  • Continually work to understand your own assumptions and biases and how they impact the learning environment
  • Make a commitment to value and manage cultural uniquenesses and adapt education to meet the needs of each student
  • Prepare students to meet “the next challenge” through fostering confidence that comes from adventurous exploration and rigorous academics
  • Develop a culture of trust where students, families, and staff are all reflected in decisions that shape the learning environment
  • Foster student agency in a way that allows and encourages students to make choices that personalize their learning journey
  • Build a day-to-day experience that leads students to their passion and purpose

Requirements

License / Education Requirements:

  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) or Career Pathways License:
    Minnesota offers a teaching license specific to CTE or Career Pathways fields. To be eligible for a CTE or Career Pathways license, an applicant must meet at least one of the following requirements:
  • Hold an Associate's degree or higher in the area directly related to the requested licensure field;
  • Hold a professional certification in an area directly related to the requested licensure field; or
  • Have five years of verified work experience in an area directly related to the requested licensure field.
  • An applicant for a CTE or Career Pathways license may also need to have a job offer from a Minnesota public school district or charter school, or meet additional requirements, depending on the license tier sought. MN 5-12 or 7-12 Teaching License and CTE certification in Automotive/Transportation Careers and Construction/Welding Careers
  • Automotive Service Excellence certification preferred but training can be provided for appropriate candidate
  • Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one’s own cultural competence, i.e., valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations and one’s skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas
