Primary Function (Purpose of Position): A DeLaSalle High School Theology Teacher has a strong background in theology, a deep understanding of Catholic teachings, and the ability to engage and inspire high school students in exploring the complexities of faith and morality. The theology teacher will be responsible for instructing students in preparing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and fostering a love for learning.

Representative Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development:
· Develop and implement a comprehensive theology curriculum that aligns with the school’s mission and values.
· Integrate relevant and engaging instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning styles of students.
2. Classroom Instruction:
· Facilitate meaningful and interactive classroom discussions on theological topics, encouraging critical thinking and respectful dialogue.
· Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including lectures, group activities, and multimedia resources, to enhance student understanding.
3. Faith Formation:
· Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that encourages spiritual growth and personal reflection.
· Provide guidance on moral and ethical decision-making, helping students develop a strong foundation for their faith.
4. Assessment and Evaluation:
· Implement fair and effective assessment strategies to measure student comprehension and mastery of theological concepts.
· Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, and parents supporting their academic and spiritual development.
5. Catholic Identity:
· Embrace and promote the Catholic identity of the school, incorporating Catholic teaching into daily lessons and activities.
· Collaborate with the school’s religious partners and Campus Ministry to reinforce the integration of faith across the curriculum.
6. Professional Development:
· Stay current with theological and educational research and trends, attending workshops and conferences to enhance teaching skills.
· Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the overall academic success of the school.

Requirements
Qualifications:
· BA in Theology, Religious Studies, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
· Teaching certification or licensure.
· Strong understanding of Catholic teachings and theology.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
· Passion for working with high school students and helping them navigate questions of faith and morality.

· Must be dependable and punctual.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Works in such a manner to provide positive and timely communication with students and parents while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

· Manage multiple projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions.
· Perform all duties in a manner that promotes the mission of DeLaSalle High School.
· Attend all staff meetings as required.
· Able to work 40+ hours a week or whatever is required – including occasional weekend and evening work.
· Ability to lift and move using proper techniques up to and including 25 pounds.
