Purpose of Position: The primary responsibility of our passionate and dedicated Math teacher is to create an engaging and supportive learning environment that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. This position will be responsible for developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and inspiring students to develop a strong foundation in mathematics.

Representative Responsibilities:
1. Instruction and Curriculum Development:
- Develop and deliver high-quality, college-preparatory lessons in Geometry and Advanced Algebra.
- Design and implement a curriculum that aligns with state standards, Common Core, and college readiness benchmarks.
- Use a variety of teaching methodologies, including direct instruction, project-based learning, and inquiry-based learning.
- Integrate technology and real-world applications to enhance student understanding of mathematical concepts.
2. Classroom Management:
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom culture where all students feel valued and encouraged to excel.
- Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations in a structured and respectful classroom environment.
- Implement and enforce school policies regarding attendance, behavior, and academic integrity.
3. Student Engagement and Support:
- Create a student-centered learning environment that fosters collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and academic needs.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, adjusting instruction as needed to ensure mastery.
- Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students, guiding them toward academic improvement.
4. Professional Collaboration and School Involvement:
- Work collaboratively with other faculty members, administrators, and support staff to enhance student success.
- Participate in professional learning communities and attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and areas for growth.
5. Extracurricular and Community Engagement:
- Lead or assist in extracurricular activities such as Math Club, Mathletes, or tutoring programs.
- Organize and participate in school-wide events that promote STEM education.
- Engage with parents, local businesses, and community organizations to support student learning and career pathways.
6. Career and College Readiness:
- Prepare students for standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and AP exams by incorporating test-taking strategies into lessons.
- Promote mathematical literacy and problem-solving skills essential for college and STEM-related careers.
- Encourage students to take advanced math courses and participate in math-related extracurricular activities.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education or a related field is preferred.
- Teaching certification or working towards one.
- Prior experience teaching Geometry, Advanced Algebra, and college readiness standards.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of Common Core, Next Generation Math Standards, or IB curriculum.
- Experience teaching Honors, AP, or Duel Enrollment math courses.
- Ability to integrate technology into lessons.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications.

- Perform all duties in a manner that promotes the mission of DeLaSalle High School.
- Attend all staff meetings as required.
- Able to work 40+ hours a week or whatever is required – including occasional weekend and evening work.
- Ability to lift and move using proper techniques up to and including 25 pounds.
