Job Description:
Faribault Public Schools is seeking outstanding candidates for a part-time Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator at McKinley Early Childhood Center. The successful candidate for this position will perform difficult professional work overseeing the staff and operations of early special education programs. This position commences on 7/26/2022
Requirements
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of early childhood and family education programs; comprehensive knowledge of professional practices applicable to early childhood, family and senior educational programs and students; thorough knowledge of district operations and policies, practices and procedures applicable to the program; thorough skill collecting and disseminating data to support programming needs; thorough skill creating standard correspondence; thorough skill operating standard office equipment and related hardware and software; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records; ability to create and maintain a budget; ability to direct and evaluate the work of staff; ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing; ability to plan and supervise the work of teachers, teacher assistants and principals; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, teachers and students.
Essential Functions: Implements and administers board policies and local, state or federal laws to provide programming that meets the needs for early childhood, special education, and family education funding.
Provides leadership, direction, supervision, mentoring and development opportunities to staff; recruits, interviews and makes recommendations on personnel actions.
Develops and monitors budget and programming that can be efficiently offered within the budget; seeks additional funds through grants and collaborations, generates and monitors program revenues and fees.
Plans and implements new program initiatives through needs assessments, research and collaboration with others to meet the needs of the community; formulates annual goals and objectives for new and existing programs and services.
Serves as a liaison for resources within the Faribault consortium.
Works as a liaison and advocate for programming by giving presentations and working in collaboration with other similar agencies; represents the department at conferences and other meetings.
Establishes and keeps various statistical data regarding the program and participants.
Oversees and ensures accurate procedures are followed for assessments and screenings.
Creates and maintains various promotional materials for distribution and marketing of the program into community.
Coordinates the early intervention services for children Birth-5, the integrated preschool and community placements.
Functions as the District Representative at Due Process Meetings, as well as state level meetings and conferences.
Qualifications:
Experience working in the field of early childhood, special education, family and early intervention programs, hiring and supervision of staff, program development and evaluations, report writing and reporting of the Minnesota Department of Education. Ability to participate as a resource in the development of positive interventions in the pre-referral process as requested. Bachelor’s degree with licensure in special education and one of the following: Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten Pre-Primary, Early Childhood Education, Parent and Family Education, Family Education/ Early Childhood Educator required. Director of Special Education licensure or Principal licensure preferred. District will consider a temporary out of field permission for the right candidate.
