 Job Description: One full-time (1.0 FTE) EL teacher at Lincoln Elementary School.  The EL teacher will be working with students at the elementary level.  The teacher will be providing English language development instruction to students who are emerging multilingual learners.  The teacher will be working with students at various levels of English proficiency and in different instructional modalities.  The teacher will be running basic language development classes for lower leveled students, and doing a combination of push-in and co-teaching for higher leveled students.  The teacher is expected to collaborate with the grade level content teachers to support the development of multilingual learners in their most advantageous learning environment. This position commences during the 26/27 school year.

 

Qualifications:  Ability to work with a team.  Ability to design individual programming and accommodations for students with disabilities.  Excellent communication and organizational skills. All candidates will be considered.

 

Job Duties:

  • Teach EL classes
  • Teach Recently Arrived English Learners in grades 1-5.
  • Co-teaching in mainstream classes.
  • Bilingual preferred but not necessary.
  • Work with the EL department to plan and implement new learning and strategies.
  • Build positive relationships with students and families.
  • Collaborate with mainstream teachers positively and effectively.
  • Work with instructional coaches to educate mainstream teachers on best-practices for ELs in the mainstream.

Faribault Public Schools is a rural Pre-K through Adult School District located about 50 miles south of the Twin-Cities. The school district currently serves approximately 3,700 students in Faribault and our surrounding areas within our community of 23,000 citizens within the city limits. District sites include one Pre-K and Kindergarten, two elementary schools 1-5, one middle school 6-8, one high school 9-12, one area learning center 9-12 and one education center for adult education.

Requirements

Qualifications:  Must hold a TESOL license from an accredited institution or a State of Minnesota ESL License.

 

Licensure:  Must hold a State of Minnesota TESOL/ESL License. Alternatively, if you wish to pursue EL teaching with a different teaching license, an Out-of-Field permission will be requested on your behalf, or if you have obtained a Bachelor's Degree from a college or university and are interested in exploring teaching as a career, we are happy to discuss options to help you obtain a teaching license qualifying you to become a teacher and start a new rewarding career.
