Job Title:  Family & Community Engagement Specialist – Somali or Spanish Speaking; Part-time

General Definition of Work:  The Family and Community Engagement Specialist (FACE) will specialize in working directly with school, families and communities to cultivate a generational learning experience that empowers educators, parents and community stakeholders to sustain family engagement and improve student performance in their network.  The FACE Specialist will represent FPS in a positive manner and implement cross-functional strategies in the areas of Family and Community Engagement, Teaching and Learning, and Student Achievement.  Work is performed under the supervision of the school building leadership.The position will be scheduled to work 28 hours per week at a rate of $28.36 per hour. Schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:45-1:45 with a half hour break. This position is grant-funded and will continue through June 30, 2026. Extension beyond this date is dependent upon the availability of additional funding.

Essential Functions:

  • Interacts with students and families to enhance and support the student and family welcome experience in the school building at busy times and in at least two languages.
  • Provides interpretation and translation of documents as needed.
  • Assist Cabinet members, Principals, Coordinators, Teachers and Staff in channeling engagement in ways that support and add value to family engagement.
  • Build relationships and establish ongoing communication with building leaders to help increase their school’s parent and family engagement efforts and student achievement.
  • Provide excellent customer service experience for parents, families, schools, stakeholders and community members to support a collaborative learning environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bilingual in Somali or Spanish.
