Fridley High School Principal serves as the key liaison between the Superintendent and the building staff. In this leadership role, the individual will lead all school programs, services, staff, and students, ensuring alignment with the district’s vision and goals. The High School Principal is responsible for making informed, strategic decisions that foster a supportive, effective work environment for staff, address the needs of students, and ensure the delivery of a high-quality curriculum. This high school principal is focused on improving student outcomes through the application of best teaching practices, facilitating collaboration among staff, and maintaining a school culture that prioritizes student success and holistic development.

Requirements
Essential Job Functions
Academic and Instructional Leadership
- Leads, directs, coordinates, supervises, and is accountable for the daily operation of the high school.
- Serves as the instructional leader, establishing and communicating clear expectations for teaching and learning aligned with the district vision and the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework.
- Leads the analysis and use of student achievement data to inform instructional decisions, guide school improvement efforts, and ensure equitable outcomes for all learners.
- Designs and facilitates high-quality, job-embedded professional development focused on effective instructional practices, including differentiation, formative assessment, and culturally responsive teaching.
- Oversees the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to address both academic and behavioral needs.
- Conducts regular classroom walkthroughs and formal observations, providing timely, specific, and actionable feedback to improve instruction and student engagement.
- Collaborates with district academic leadership to ensure alignment with curriculum standards, instructional initiatives, and best practices.
- Cultivates a culture of continuous improvement, reflective practice, and high expectations centered on student growth and academic excellence.
School Leadership and Operations
- Leads, directs, and is accountable for the overall daily operations of the high school.
- Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates school improvement goals aligned with district priorities, using multiple data sources to assess progress and report outcomes.
- Ensures effective implementation and interpretation of school board policies and district procedures.
- Oversees master scheduling for students and staff to ensure effective and equitable use of resources.
- Provides leadership in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-maintained school environment, including facilities management and safety protocols.
- Supervises and supports all school programs, including extracurricular and activities programs.
- Prepares and manages the school budget in alignment with district guidelines and approved allocations.
Human Capital Leadership
- Leads recruitment efforts and makes hiring recommendations to attract and retain high-quality staff.
- Supervises, evaluates, and supports certified and non-certified staff, ensuring alignment with district standards and continuous professional growth.
- Manages the evaluation process, providing meaningful feedback and coaching to improve performance.
- Coaches and develops Assistant Principals and Deans, strengthening leadership capacity and ensuring consistent, equitable practices across the school.
Culture, Climate, and Community Engagement
- Promotes a positive, inclusive school culture grounded in the IB framework, high expectations, and a commitment to equity and student success.
- Communicates effectively with students, staff, families, and community members to build trust and shared ownership of school goals.
- Fosters strong partnerships with families and the broader community to support student learning and well-being.
Collaboration and Systems Leadership
- Actively participates as a member of the district administrative team and contributes to district-wide initiatives and decision-making.
- Collaborates with departments such as Student Services, Academics and Innovation, and Equity to ensure alignment, coherence, and effective implementation of systems that support students.
- Leads and supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of staff development and instructional improvement programs.
- Provides leadership in analyzing and improving both educational and operational systems within the school.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned by the superintendent or district leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field (required)
- Valid Minnesota administrative license (K-12 Principal or equivalent)
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience
- Minimum of three years in a school or district-level leadership role
- Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and fostering inclusive school environments
- Proven experience in staff supervision, instructional leadership, and organizational management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading instructional programs that demonstrate measurable gains in student achievement through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement practices.
- Proven leadership in advancing equity and inclusion, including implementing culturally responsive practices and reducing achievement or opportunity gaps.
- Experience successfully leading complex organizational systems (e.g., master scheduling, staffing, budget management) in a high school setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives, build consensus among stakeholders, and implement innovative practices that improve student outcomes.
