A Special Education Teacher
Special Education Teacher with ISD 361 to provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in a more restrictive setting, with a focus on functional skills and post-secondary transition planning. This role would involve developing and implementing IEPs, intervention and data collection, compliance and progress monitoring, collaborating with other professionals, families and ensuring students’ progress toward their IEP goals and post-high school goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Support: Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities, including those with significant needs.
IEP Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, including progress monitoring, assessment, and reporting.
Behavior Support: Implement and monitor behavior management plans and collaborate with other professionals to address challenging behaviors.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and parents to ensure a coordinated and successful learning environment.
Transition Planning: Develop and implement transition plans to prepare students for post-secondary options, including vocational training, independent living, and community participation.
Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed, accurate and timely records, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Parent Communication: Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates on student progress and involvement in the IEP process.
Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Setting Focus:
Restricted Setting: Students will require a more restrictive environment due to the severity of their disabilities or challenging behaviors.
Functional Skills: Instruction focuses on developing functional skills needed for daily living, vocational training, and community participation.
Post-Secondary Transition: A strong emphasis is placed on preparing students for post-secondary options, including vocational training, independent living, and community participation.
Qualifications: A valid state special education teacher certification in the appropriate area of expertise (e.g., severe disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders) is essential.
Experience working with students with significant disabilities and/or challenging behaviors is highly preferred.
A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education
Training or licensure in restorative practices and trauma informed care with a focus on behavior and social – emotional interventions and success.
Experience with MTSS, PBIS and PLCs.
Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations, IEP development and implementation, behavior management strategies, and assistive technology is expected.
Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills are crucial for effective teamwork and parent involvement.

Falls High School Preference given to ABS, EBD, ASD. Someone with a strong behavioral background.
L331 Contract
Pay Scale: Dependent on qualifications - $45,162 - $82,633
Benefits: Health, Dental, Life Insurance, TRA Retirement, Personal Leave and Sick Leave per L331 Union contract.
