Falls High School — Special Education Teacher

Falls High School (grades 7 through 12) is seeking a collaborative, student-centered Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support for students receiving special education services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and administration to ensure students receive high-quality, individualized instruction in the least restrictive environment.

Required Qualifications
–      Valid Minnesota Special Education teaching license (issued by the Minnesota Department of Education, PELSB).

–      Knowledge of special education law, due process requirements, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and implementation.

–      Ability to use assessment data to develop, implement, and monitor individualized student programming.

–      Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications
–      Experience serving students with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

–      Experience implementing evidence-based instructional practices in reading, writing, mathematics, communication, social-emotional learning, and behavior.

–      Experience with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and data-driven tiered intervention.

–      Experience with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

–      Training or experience in Trauma-Informed Practices and their application in the classroom.

–      Knowledge of structured literacy, positive behavior supports, and inclusive educational practices.

–      Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support student success.

Essential Responsibilities
–      Provide specially designed instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals.

–      Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with federal and state regulations.

–      Collaborate with classroom teachers to support inclusive practices and student achievement.

–      Monitor student progress and use data to inform instruction and intervention.

–      Apply MTSS and PBIS frameworks to support academic and behavioral growth across tiers.

–      Incorporate trauma-informed strategies to create a safe, supportive learning environment.

–      Communicate effectively with families and multidisciplinary team members.

–      Foster a positive, supportive learning environment that promotes academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
