Position Title: 0.5 FTE Licensed Counselor or Social Worker
Start Date: 2024-25 school year
This position is part-time at Mahtomedi High School and will work within the special education department.
Salary and benefits are part of the Teacher Master Agreement.
Minimum Requirements: Must have a valid MN Social Worker (Pre-K -12) or School Counselor license, or be able to obtain the appropriate license from PELSB, Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board.
Qualifications:
- Must demonstrate strong knowledge and skills in areas of proactive and reactive behavior strategies and systems
- Successful experience supporting students and staff through positive behavioral interventions and restorative practices
- Working knowledge of area resources that support children and families
- Experience organizing and analyzing behavioral data to make informed decisions
- Ability to support student behavior to ensure a safe, supportive, equitable, and culturally responsive learning environment
- Demonstrate effectiveness in working with students and families of diverse racial and economic backgrounds
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual/group support for special education students
- Address student behavioral and social-emotional needs with relevant interventions and supports
- Promote positive student-student and staff-student relationships
- Collaborate with special education staff and building administration to provide student-specific intervention and supports
- Monitor and track behavior data
- Respond to and de-escalate student behavior
- Provide support to families to promote positive school/family relationships
- Foster a community where all people are valued, respected, seen and heard
- Attend department, school, and parent meetings or functions
- Other job-related duties as assigned
