We are seeking a highly qualified Upper School Learning Specialist to join our Learning Support Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic support to students in grades 9-12, with a focus on developing and implementing strategies to enhance learning outcomes. The Learning Specialist will work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify and address the individual needs of students, and will play a key role in promoting a culture of academic excellence. This position is being funded via a grant and is anticipated to operate for five years.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify students who require academic support
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with diverse learning needs
- Provide direct academic support to students in one-on-one and small group settings
- Monitor student progress and adjust learning plans as needed
- Communicate regularly with parents and teachers to ensure that students are receiving the support they need to succeed
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
- Strong knowledge of learning strategies and accommodations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Experience working in an independent school setting
- Experience with assistive technology and other learning tools
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment
- Experience with data analysis and progress monitoring
Skills:
The successful candidate will utilize their strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify and address the individual needs of students. They will draw on their knowledge of learning strategies and accommodations to develop and implement individualized learning plans, and will use their experience working with students with diverse learning needs to provide direct academic support. The Learning Specialist will also use their excellent organizational and time management skills to monitor student progress and adjust learning plans as needed. Finally, the successful candidate will use their experience with assistive technology and other learning tools to promote a culture of academic excellence.
