Assignment Information
Our Director of Student Support Services a full-time, full year position.
The terms and conditions of this position are covered by an individual contract.
Salary and benefits are regionally competitive. Salary is commensurate with the incumbents experience and qualifications. Minimum salary is $125,000.
Summary/Primary Objective of Position
Provide supervision over programs in student support services throughout the District.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide coordination and supervision of programs in special education, social work, psychological services, and related services.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of current services, modify present services, and develop new services in areas of responsibility, as deemed appropriate by the Executive Director of Student Support Services.
- Assist in the collection of information regarding the learning outcomes of students and in the interpretation of effective data regarding students, ensuring alignment with the district-wide MTSS framework.
- Supervise and monitor the implementation of statewide eligibility criteria for special education.
- Facilitate and support District Special Education data examination in alignment with curriculum review, UbD and implementation of Standards-Based IEPs.
- Develop and complete mutual commitments tied directly to the District’s Strategic Plan.
- Serve as an active participant in the selection and recommendation process for new teachers within special education, including the evaluation process for non-continuing contract staff as well as summative year continuing contract staff.
- Serve as a member of the District’s administrative team.
- Provide direct supervision of District Strategists.
- Provide necessary information to the Executive Director of Student Support Services for the completion of state reports, and prepare those reports in areas of responsibility as delegated by the Executive Director.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Requirements
- Current Minnesota licensure as a Director of Special Education.
- Evidence of successful teaching experience in special education.
- Evidence of supervisory and/or leadership in special education.
- Evidence of successful experience in student support services in a school system, preferably with experience with transition age programming.
- Evidence of thorough knowledge of special education and related services.
- Evidence of knowledge of state and federal special education laws.
- Evidence of excellent skills in planning and program development.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Evidence of the ability to view the school as a system and to work to create an effective system of prevention and intervention services for students with special needs.
- Evidence of excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and effective interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
