Western Metro School District

Develops lesson plans and instructional material; provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the District-approved curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Deliver high-quality Ojibwe language instruction by integrating comprehension literacy skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) that foster a deep appreciation for Ojibwe language, culture and history.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records in a timely fashion and prepares progress reports.
Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, conferences, etc.
Works in a supportive and collaborative manner with colleagues and supervisors.
Maintains and improves professional skills by participating in building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars in an effort to stay current with best teaching practices.
Participates in a professional learning community on a regular basis.
Integration of technology into instruction.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

Minnesota K-12 American Indian Language, or, current MN teaching license in another field and willing to obtain an Out of Field Permission*

*If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or Tier 2 license.
