POSITION STATUS: 1.0 FTE

START DATE:  25-26 SY

COMPENSATION: $70,000-$83,000

Serving the Forest Lake and surrounding areas since 1999, North Lakes Academy provides a personalized learning environment designed to meet a wide variety of academic needs. With strong core subjects and a full complement of liberal arts courses, NLA provides quality learning in a responsive learning atmosphere. Currently, we operate an elementary campus (grades K-6) and a secondary campus (grades 7-12) both in Forest Lake, serving a total of 460 students. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a valid MN License in School Counseling, School Social Work, or School Psychology
Must have strong skills in leadership, consultation, and crisis intervention, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with secondary-aged children in a public school setting
Background in implementing Schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports
Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning
Previous involvement in a charter school environment
Knowledge of coordinating Section 504 services
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and school staff
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

JOB DESCRIPTION: North Lakes Academy is seeking a licensed school counselor, social worker or psychologist to provide educational services and activities tailored to the needs of secondary students, with a focus on identifying emerging mental health and educational concerns and implementing appropriate monitoring as needed. This role involves collaborating with teachers and staff to enhance their ability to support students, proactively working to improve student performance.

Key responsibilities include: Coordinate Section 504 plans for students, grades 7-12.
Act as guidance counselor, including some work with grading, transcripts, and student schedules.
Implement, in collaboration with the Principal and half-time Dean of students, a schoolwide positive approach to student behaviors.
Assist in implementing a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS).
Respond to office referrals and provide behavioral support to teachers throughout the school day.
Facilitate the student assistance/problem solving team.
Serve on the crisis management team.
Support and mentor staff in implementing proactive strategies to promote student learning and behavioral expectations to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and supportive to all students.
Assist staff in responding effectively to students whose behaviors disrupt the learning environment.
Provide social-emotional support and crisis counseling to students, participate in crisis intervention, and make necessary reports to child protection agencies while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity.
Establish student support groups based on shared needs.
Collaborate with the part-time special education social worker, special education teachers, and related service providers to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
Perform duties similar to those of an assistant principal, partnering with the principal on school-wide initiatives and strategies.
Support the supervision of the school day as well as events and activities beyond school hours, including school dances, Parent Teacher Organization events, concerts, sporting events, and extracurricular programs.
Other duties as assigned.
