North Lakes Academy is seeking a professional to provide educational services and activities tailored to the needs of elementary students, with a focus on identifying emerging mental health and educational concerns and implementing appropriate monitoring as needed. This role involves collaborating with teachers and staff to enhance their ability to support students, proactively working to improve student performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Handle office referrals and provide behavioral support to teachers throughout the school day.
- Serve on the crisis management team.
- Supporting and mentoring staff in implementing proactive strategies to promote student learning and behavioral expectations to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and supportive to all students.
- Assisting staff in responding effectively to students whose behaviors disrupt the learning environment.
- Providing social-emotional support and crisis counseling to students, participating in crisis intervention, and making necessary reports to child protection agencies while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Establishing student support groups based on shared needs.
- Collaborating with the part-time special education social worker, special education teachers, and related service providers.
- Performing duties similar to those of an assistant principal, partnering with the principal on school-wide initiatives and strategies.
- Leading North Lakes Academy in its second year of implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
- Support the supervision of the school day as well as events and activities beyond school hours, including school dances, Parent Teacher Organization events, concerts, extracurricular programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a valid MN License in School Counseling, School Social Work, or School Psychology
Must have strong skills in leadership, consultation, and crisis intervention, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school setting
- Background in implementing Schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports
- Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning
- Previous involvement in a charter school environment
- Knowledge of coordinating Section 504 services
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and school staff
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
District Application Guidelines
POSITION STATUS: 1.0 FTE
START DATE: 25-26 SY
COMPENSATION: $70,000-$80,000
