ABOUT NORTH LAKES ACADEMY:
North Lakes Academy (NLA) is a K–12 charter school located in Forest Lake, Minnesota, approximately 25 miles north of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. NLA serves about 425 students across an elementary campus (grades K–6) and a secondary campus (grades 7–12).
At all grade levels, NLA embraces small class sizes, personalized learning, and a diverse liberal arts education while fostering emotional intelligence and strong relationships between students, families, and staff.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
North Lakes Academy is seeking a qualified 5th Grade Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This position is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment that promotes academic growth and student success.
The ideal candidate is passionate about elementary education and committed to delivering high-quality instruction aligned with state and district standards while supporting the whole child.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with district and state standards
Use hands-on activities, group work, and multimedia tools to enhance learning
Provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
Establish a positive, respectful, and structured classroom environment
Address behavioral concerns using fair, constructive, and restorative practices
Assess student progress using formal and informal assessments
Provide regular feedback to students and families
Collaborate with staff and participate in meetings and professional development
Attend school events, field trips, and supervise students as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field
Valid Minnesota teaching license
Strong understanding of child development and instructional best practices
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Previous elementary teaching experience preferred
Commitment to inclusive, student-centered learning

District Application Guidelines
POSITION STATUS: Full-time
START DATE: 2026–2027 school year
COMPENSATION: $40,800 – $60,626.65, based on experience
BENEFITS: Health Insurance, Dental Coverage, Paid Time Off (PTO), TRA or PERA Contributions, Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, and access to a range of additional benefits such as short-term disability and accident insurance
