Job Summary: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning by providing secretarial/clerical support to Adult Basic Education students, staff and community.
Responsibilities and tasks include:Provide administrative support in the form of maintaining student records in the Student Information Database (SiD).
Interact in a professional manner with staff to ensure accurate recordkeeping of student records and class attendance and compliance with grant assurances and federal and state statutes and guidance.
Collaborate with colleagues across the region and from third party vendors to develop and implement training and learning supports for staff to retrieve and utilize testing data effectively.
Provide outstanding customer service to staff, students and community members by answering and returning phone calls and meeting and greeting customers.
Interact in a professional manner with students from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences interested in enrolling in classes.
Provide administrative support in the form of typing, word processing, filing, duplicating materials, faxing, etc.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Provide outstanding customer service.
Minimum qualifications include:High school diploma or equivalent.
General clerical skills including word processing, updating databases, and experience creating and tracking information using Excel.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to help, serve, and exchange information.
Willingness to learn and use data management systems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Highly organized and detail oriented.
Ability to work collaboratively with Adult Basic Education staff and customers as well as with building partners as needed.
Preferred qualifications include:Fluent in Spanish, Hmong, or Vietnamese.
Comfortable working with diverse cultures.
Strong customer service skills and understanding of customer service theory.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:Extensive secretarial/clerical skills, including MS office software (i.e., MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook), Google applications and database maintenance.
Extensive skills in developing and maintaining record systems.
Knowledge of district policies and procedures, especially as they affect the general operation of the building.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of the materials and information disseminated daily.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
Ability to carry out job responsibilities independently, possess effective time management and organizational skills.
Salary: Class 3-B ($25.33 to $27.76 hourly), see salary schedule on page 5 of the Osseo Adminstrative Professionals contract
Work schedule: 32 hours per week, 260/261 days per yearMonday and Tuesday, 8:00 am – 2:30 pm
Wednesday and Thursday, 11:00 am to 6:30 pm
Friday, 8:00 am to 2:30 pm
