Position Type:
Support Staff/Educational Support Professionals

Location:
Oak View Elementary

Hours:  6 hours/day; 5 days/week
General Purpose of Job:  The following tasks will constitute the major portion of the Educational Support Professional’s time:  2 hours/day lunch, recess, kindergarten, media and hallway supervision.  4 hours/day Special Education ESP Resourc program.  Depending on program needs, management reserves the right to make changes in your assignment.
Responsibilities:

Support instructional programming for students who receive special education services.
Implement best practice instructional strategies to support kids in the general and special education setting.
Support bathroom training and needs.
Record student record information.
Supervise students in non-instructional activities such as playground, lunchroom, study halls, play periods and hallways.
Greet visitors, answer questions/concerns pertaining to the administrative function of the school; receive incoming calls from students, parents, etc.
Locate students, write passes and assign student helper to deliver in the event of a problem, concern or emergency.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Applicants must be considered Highly Qualified (HQ) to work as a special education paraprofessional by their start date per the Minnesota Department of Education.Applicants meet the Highly Qualified requirement if they have:Two years of study at an institution of higher education; Minnesota’s standard; A minimum of 60 semester credits or the amount required to complete two years of full-time enrollment as determined by the institution attended OR
An Associate’s (or higher) degree; Minnesota’s standard: An AA, AS, AAS, (or higher) degree OR
Received a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.
Previous experience working with students in a related field is preferred.
Job Type:  Part-time, school year
Bargaining Unit:  Educational Support Professionals
Salary Range:  Per Contract, see salary schedule on page 4.
