Position Type: Support Staff/Educational Support Professionals

Location: Community Based Vocational Assessment & Training (CBVAT) Brooklyn Park, Minnesota

Job summary: Assist Work Experience Coordinators (WEC) in the day-to-day operation and function of the Community Based Vocation Assessment and Training (CBVAT) program’s simulated and production work labs. And, also, to work with individual or small groups of students in community placements under the direction of a WEC and as directed by and under the supervision of the Student Services Administrator.

Responsibilities and tasks include:

Assist in the implementation of the students’ instructional special education/vocational training plans in all settings in which the program is delivered.
Assist with job development for students receiving CBVAT services.
Ensure appropriate accommodations for students’ program in all settings under the direction of the student’s case manager, teacher, or work coordinator.
Act as a liaison between the CBVAT program and community partnerships.
Collect observational data about assigned student(s) in various instructional settings.
Complete educational forms, reports and other student related data documents relevant to assigned student(s).
Attend staffings, conferences and other meetings as requested by Supervising Administrator.
Assist with preparation, collection and maintenance of appropriate materials and equipment for the CBVAT program labs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include:

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Possess a valid Driver’s License.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

Perform tasks and effectively works with a variety of personnel from various disciplines, including community businesses.
Experience working with persons with disabilities and/or other human services experience.
Ability to work independently with WEC work direction on community sites with students.
Proficiency with office technology including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access) and Google (Docs, Sheets, Forms).
Responsibly assist students in transitioning from school to community (i.e. safety knowledge, appropriate behavior, self-advocacy).
Physical capacity to lift and attend to physical needs of students as required.
Salary: View Classification II (2) salary grid on page 4, section 2, and classification, page 5, section 2 on Educational Support Professional contract

Work Schedule: 6 hours/day; 5 days/week

Job Type or FTE: part-time; school year

Bargaining Unit: Educational Support Professional
