Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists (SPCPA) is a public high school in the heart of downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. We serve a diverse student body of young artists in grades 9-12, providing a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum alongside daily pre-professional conservatory-style training in the arts. Our mission is to prepare students for post-secondary and professional success in the arts and beyond.
Position Summary
SPCPA is seeking a passionate and student-centered educator to teach Health during the first semester and Physical Education during the second semester one day per week (Fridays) during the 2026-27 school year. This is an 0.14 FTE position, ideal for a licensed teacher looking to supplement an existing schedule or someone passionate about working with dedicated, creative high school students in an arts focused environment.
The ideal candidate will be committed to health and wellness education, culturally responsive teaching, and supporting student success in a unique and dynamic public charter school setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach 4 sections of Health during the first semester and 4 sections of Physical Education courses during the second semester aligned with the National Health Education Standards and Minnesota benchmarks
- Sub or supervise 2 periods and receive 1, 60-minute prep period in between 4 teaching periods
- Plan and implement engaging, inclusive lessons
- Assess student learning and provide timely feedback
- Collaborate with SPCPA faculty and staff to support student achievement
- Maintain accurate attendance and grade records in accordance with school policy
- Create a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
Compensation/Benefits
- $35-50/Hour

Requirements
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Minnesota teaching license in Health and/or Physical Education or hold a valid MN teaching license in another field and willing to obtain an Out-of-Field Permission (K-12)
- Commitment to teaching in an urban and arts-rich high school environment
- Strong communication, organization and collaboration skills
- Must complete and pass a criminal background check
Preferred:
- Experience teaching in a secondary school setting
- Familiarity with the National health Education Standards (NHES) and Benchmarks & MN State Phy Ed Standards
- Culturally responsive teaching practices and inclusive curriculum design
