Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists (SPCPA) is a public high school in the heart of downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. Students complete required academic credits and conservatory-style training in the arts provided by professional artists in preparation for college and conservatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Case management and maintaining appropriate due process files.
- Maintain accurate and complete student due process records as required by state and federal laws and school district standards.
- Confer with parents, administrators, and other professionals to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) designed to promote students’ educational, social, and emotional development.
- Establish appropriate academic and behavioral expectations for students and communicate those to students and their families.
- Create lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and conducive to achieving goals.
- Select, adapt, and individualize materials to meet students’ needs, including developmental, cognitive, and social needs.
- Regularly assess student learning by using multiple forms of assessment.
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with families in making educational decisions.
- Collaborate with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs and abilities of the students.
- Participate in ongoing and regular staff, team, and individual professional development. Be open and responsive to feedback to improve teaching and increase student learning.
- Direct the work of paraprofessionals.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Compensation/Benefits
- Starting salary of $45,000 – $60,000 per year

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current special education assessment standards.
- Knowledge of Minnesota State Academic Standards, classroom management techniques, current research-based best practices and strategies, as well as students' learning styles and needs.
- Able to facilitate positive interactions between students and teacher, student and peers, and students and other adults; models learning and behavior consistent with the expectations for students.
- Knowledge of basic office equipment and software used to maintain student records and files.
- Knowledge of instructional technologies and software, equipment, tools, devices used in presenting instruction and documenting student progress.
Qualifications
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid State of Minnesota tiered teaching license.
(and Out of Field Permission (OFP) or Tier 1 License may be possible) - SLD, EBD, and/or ASD license(s) preferred
