JOB FUNCTION:
As a school counselor, his/her primary function shall be to assist students in reaching their potential and assist them in developing positive and realistic self-concepts.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities include:
1. Development and management of our comprehensive school counseling program.
2. Individual and group counseling.
3. Student planning.
4. Preventive and responsive services.
5. Collect, interpret and utilize student and school data.
6. Collaborate and communicate effectively with students, parents, educators and the community.
7. Maintain accurate (and current) student records.
8. Leadership role in our school improvement plan.
9. Demonstrates ability to work well in a team, especially with parents and community members.
10. Analytical problem solver with a basic understanding of data analysis.
11. Ability to focus when presented with a wide variety of tasks.
12. Maintain a professional demeanor.
13. Collaborate with staff and colleagues at school-wide, grade-level, and content-level meetings.
14. Participate in professional growth by being a reflective practitioner.
15. Maintain flexibility when faced with challenges.
REPORTS TO:
Building principal and director of Student Services.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
1) He/she must maintain proper certification and license as required by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
2) He/she must possess, as a minimum, a master's degree.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
1) He/she shall direct supervisory responsibility to the elementary principal(s) and director of student services.
2) He/she shall be responsible to each student, his/her parent(s)/guardian(s) and the teachers with whom services are rendered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing and occasionally requires pushing, pulling, lifting, and operating machines; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. school offices/classrooms/passageways).
Salary/Benefits
$48,808/year+
