The School District of Onalaska is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Choral Music Teacher at Onalaska High School beginning the 2026-2027 school year.
JOB GOAL: To develop in each student an appreciation of the art of music as part of general culture; to teach techniques of vocal music expression; to discover and develop talents of students in the field of music; to develop knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music. In addition, develops and leads a Music Academy initiative that connects students with professional internship opportunities and real-world experiences within the community.

Specific assignment functions:
Delivers high-quality instruction in general music and vocal techniques through individualized lessons and small-group sessions.
Designs and implements a comprehensive music program, strategically managing daily instructional time to balance preparation, rehearsal, and student development.
Curates and utilizes a wide-ranging repertoire of traditional and contemporary music literature tailored to the diverse skill levels and developmental stages of students.
Directs and produces formal and informal concerts, fostering student growth and community engagement through public performances.
Develops and leads a Music Academy initiative that connects students with professional internship opportunities and real-world experiences within the community.
Creates and teaches elective courses as needed for the music academy.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Possess a valid Wisconsin teaching license in the assigned area of teaching and grades 9-12
Possess a minimum of a B.S./B.A. degree with a major in the assigned teaching area
Prior secondary teaching experience and show choir direction preferred but not required
Ability to work well with school board members, administrators, staff and the community.
Such qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
