Job Summary
Source Code Information Technology Academy has developed a career pathway with courses defined each semester of a student’s Junior and Senior year. In partnership with South Central College, courses are eligible for college credit. Teacher should be eligible to teach dual/concurrent enrollment courses.

 

Foundation courses are exploratory, and to be taught in a blended format with content hosted online. Instruction will facilitate an online community of practice and integrated work-based experiences. Support will be provided. Goal is to prepare the learner for a career as a computer programmer, programmer/analyst, database programmer, database administrator, technical writer, technical support specialist, help desk specialist, web designer, web developer, webmaster, software or software tester. Instructor will provide the learner with a solid background in the basic concepts of computer programming, web page development, web server application development, management and maintenance of web servers, and electronic commerce concepts. The learner will be exposed to major programming languages, systems analysis and software design, computer operating systems, and Internet services.

 

Student Learning Outcomes

1.       Understand and explore careers in Information Technology.

2.       Design and code software applications using a variety of programming languages

3.       Utilize and maintain relational databases

4.       Use web application development tools

5.       Apply current web server technologies

 

Job Functions

·         Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. Courses will require an experiential component and partnership with business and industry.

·         Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.

·         Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.

·         Deliver the written, taught and assessed curriculum.

·         Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students.

·         Partner with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to support students’ academic and social-emotional development.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.

·         Adhere to all district policies and procedures.

·         Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic issues or special academic interests.

·         Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools. Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.

·         Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students’ needs and progress.

·         Administer standardized, formative and state mandated assessments and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need.

·         Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.

·         Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision.
