Description:
Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist and/or Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired (TBVI), 8 hours a day for 185 Contract Days.
This is an itinerant position assigned to SouthWest Metro Intermediate member Districts.
Pay & Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $48,076-$99,188 based on education and experience for the 24-25 School Year.

Job Summary:
Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist is part of the educational process that prepares students from birth through 21 years with visual impairments to travel independently and safely. The itinerant O&M Specialist travels to the students’ assigned schools and/or home to provide direct and/or consultative services relating to visual impairment. These services enable the students to travel safely, efficiently, and independently in their home, school, and community environments. Community-based instruction is assumed and is a critical component of the O&M program. It is often necessary for instruction to occur off-campus, so the ability to transport students in a district vehicle is required.
Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired, serving students from birth to 21 years. The position involves evaluation, direct and consultative service in school and home environments.
Qualifications:
Possess either certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) or BVI licensure (dual certified is ideal).
Valid Minnesota Driver’s license is necessary as this position requires travel to the students’ assigned schools and/or home to provide direct and/or consultative services.
