With supervision, partner with licensed Spring Lake Park Public Schools’ staff in the implementation of a comprehensive educational program for students in grades K-4. Staff are expected to participate as part of a classroom environment that is multicultural/gender and ability fair/developmentally appropriate, is favorable to learning and growth, and is based on a commitment that all children can learn. This may include working with students in individual, small group, and large group environments in the general education setting, as well as partnering with staff as a guest teacher. The ability to assist students with the acquisition of academic, study, and social skills commensurate with pre-college academic content in mathematics, science, language arts, and social studies. Additionally, partner with a team of teachers in a PLC to develop and implement project-based learning opportunities for students. Position will begin ASAP, and end as of June 9, 2022.

Collaborate with team members on the planning and implementation of project-based learning opportunities.
Implement and maintain school programs and services for students with disabilities.
Act as a liaison between the students, family, community, and the school.
Work effectively with an interdisciplinary team and have the ability to work independently.
Work with school staff to provide academic and behavior support to classroom teachers.
Provide mediation support to assist students with conflict; assist students in development of self-advocacy skills.
Use technology skills to organize and deliver school programs and student services.
Meet District standards for employee performance and attendance.
Participate in staff development/professional growth activities relevant to position, responsibilities and school improvement plans.
Perform related duties as assigned/requested.

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:Ability to follow teacher’s plans and directions, working effectively in collaboration with others.

Ability to implement individual education plans
Ability to support students in various educational settings throughout the school day
Some lifting of 40 pounds or greater may be required.
We strongly prefer candidates who have exhibited excellence in collaboration with colleagues and an enthusiasm to work with students. Preferred candidates will also have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning as evidenced by graduate-level work or an earned degree, as well as participation in professional organization conferences or seminars related to the content area.
Valid Elementary Education licensure strongly preferred. Candidates should possess a valid Minnesota teaching license, be actively enrolled in a teacher preparation program, or be interested in the pursuit of a career in education. Spring Lake Park Schools will provide supervision as required by your higher education institute.
