POSITION: The Southwest Metro Intermediate District 288 School Board is seeking a new leader to serve as Superintendent.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL DISTRICT/COMMUNITY: The Southwest Metro Intermediate District’s main office is located in Shakopee, Minnesota. Southwest Metro 288 is an intermediate district providing specialized educational services to a group of 11 member school districts and 6 associate member districts.

LEADERSHIP PROFILE: The Southwest Metro Intermediate District 288 School Board seeks an experienced and respected educational leader with a strong background in special education, a record of sound fiscal management and academic improvement. Key attributes desired include:

  • Student-centered leader who connects communities through innovative and creative educational experiences that embrace unique learning styles and needs.
  • Effectively collaborates with the School Board, Superintendents of member districts, staff and partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate a thriving, relationship centered district culture where every individual feels valued, heard and empowered to contribute to student success.
  • Leads effective communication and transparency throughout the organization and with member districts by clarifying staff roles and responsibilities, expectations and processes.
  • Acts with honesty and in an ethical manner with the School Board, Superintendents of member districts, staff, students, and other various communities.
  • Preferred experience in implementing unique educational programs including but not limited to; Special Services and Education, Care & Treatment, Online and Alternative Learning, Adult Education, and Career & Technical Education.
  • Develops and directs an effective leadership team to help support alignment of systems, resources, and processes for long range-planning across the organization.
  • Supports the implementation of plans to address the social and emotional well being; mental health; safety and security; diversity, equity and inclusion; and belonging needs of both students and staff.
  • Is visible and accessible across the district and with our member districts.
  • Holds proven capacity in human relations and communications.

SALARY/CONTRACT: A competitive compensation and benefits package, with a starting salary range of $185,000 – $205,000, will be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications. Contract length is negotiable as provided in Minnesota statute. An excellent benefits package is also available.
