The Bemidji Regional Interdistrict Council (BRIC) is seeking a full-time Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE) Teacher Consultant to serve member school districts across north central Minnesota. This position provides leadership, expertise, and direct support to students with disabilities requiring DAPE services while promoting inclusive and engaging physical activity opportunities.
Position Summary
The DAPE Teacher Consultant provides both direct and indirect DAPE services to students with disabilities in BRIC member districts. Responsibilities include conducting evaluations, developing and implementing IEP goals and services, consulting with educational teams, and supporting district staff in meeting student needs related to motor development, physical fitness, adaptive recreation, and participation in physical education programming.
In addition, this position coordinates and organizes DAPE-related student activities and recreational opportunities including track and field events, bowling, swimming, and other adaptive or inclusive recreational experiences for students receiving DAPE services.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
● Valid Minnesota teaching license in Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE)
● Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a DAPE teacher
● Knowledge of special education due process requirements, evaluation procedures, and IEP development
● Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
● Ability to work independently while managing multiple district assignments and responsibilities
● Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the BRIC region

Preferred Qualifications
● Experience serving students with a wide range of disabilities and developmental needs
● Experience coordinating student events or recreational programming
● Knowledge of inclusive and adaptive recreation practices
● Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary educational teams
