District Schools: Walker-Hackensack-Akeley School District #113 serves Pre K-12 students in one facility in Walker. With the start of FY 21-22 there will be a newly constructed Level IV School located approximately two miles from the main site.

Communities Served: ISD 113 serves the four communities of Walker, Hackensack, Akeley and Onigum. The Pre K-12 school is located in Walker in northern Cass County and is situated on the southern shores of Leech Lake, which has over 600 miles of shoreline and is the third largest lake in Minnesota.  Akeley is 11 miles southwest of Walker; Hackensack is 13 miles south of Walker; and Onigum is located on the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Reservation 14 miles east of Walker.

Job Description:
Teach graduate level courses, recruit and advise students; assist students with Program design and planning; serve on student committees; participate in meetings, planning, and assessment as needed, collaborate with school district personnel and with other university faculty; fulfill duties and responsibilities associated with a fixed term position in the Educational Administration and Leadership Program.

Required Qualifications:           

  • Documented successful administrative experience in PreK-12 public school settings
  • Current Minnesota Administrative licensure or the ability to be licensed.
  • Earned doctorate in Educational Administration/Leadership or related field.
  • Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from minoritized, historically marginalized groups, and culturally diverse groups.
  • Experience in developing and teaching online courses (which may include hybrid, hyflex, synchronous, or asynchronous)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of recent work in public school settings
  • Evidence of participation in professional educational organizations
  • Evidence of collaboration/interaction with schools and districts.

Educational Leadership Assistant Professor

The Master of Science in Educational Leadership program builds foundational skills society demands in today’s innovative leaders, including talent development, change management, and real-world application of educational strategies for learners of all ages and backgrounds. In addition, the pathway leading to a recommendation for Minnesota Director of Community Education licensure is through a specifically developed plan of study which results in a Master of Science in Educational Leadership. The Director of Community Education plan of study is aligned directly to Minnesota state licensure competencies.

A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
