PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist the Director of Special Education in planning, coordinating, implementing and supervising a quality special educations program within the policies, philosophy and goals of the District.
2. Serve as liaison to special education students served in settings outside of ISD 719.
3. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, including maintenance of special education due-process records.
4. Participate in recruitment and hiring of staff including paraprofessionals, teachers and related services.
5. Implement and evaluate the full continuum of special education supports and services.
6. Remain up to date with trends and developments in instruction, policy, and other legal educational issues.
7. Oversee implementation of Special Education technology systems and web-based IEP systems.
8. Coordinate specialized transportation processes and procedures.
9. Coordinate, plan and facilitate professional development for special education staff including paraprofessionals.
10. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director of Special Education.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month year. Terms and conditions of employment according to contract.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually.
