Description:  

The Education Services Specialist provides direct administrative support to the Assistant Superintendent of Education Services. Responsibilities include coordinating training and workshops, purchasing, budgeting department communications, data collection, analysis, reconciliation, and reporting on behalf of Education Services.  Provides secondary level advice and direction to Education Services leaders and support personnel on behalf of the Assistant Superintendent.

School Nurse

The School Nurse will work within the Rush City School District to provide support focused on school-based health programming for PreK-12 grade. The role will include facilitation of all health-related services, discerning and responding to the needs of students, providing technical support and consultation to families, training to school staff on basic health practices and emergency response, and overseeing the health office in its entirety. This is a full-time position to begin the 2023-2024 school year. Hours, salary and benefits are in accordance with the Teacher Master Agreement. Qualifications:

● Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license,
Public Health Nurse (PHN) certification and licensure as a school nurse from the
Minnesota Board of Education.
● Develops and revises standards, policies and procedures that address school wide
health and safety, and emergency care of illnesses and injury during the school day.
● Develops Individual Health Plans for children with chronic health conditions such as
diabetes, epilepsy, and severe allergies.
● Assesses and delivers care to ill and injured students, and to students with chronic
health conditions.
● Conducts health screenings according to State recommendations.
● Collaborates with other professional staff, interdisciplinary child study team and Special
Education team to best meet the academic, social, emotional and mental health needs
through direct service, referral and/or follow-up.
● Knowledge of the fundamentals, principles, and practices of nursing care procedures,
methods, and techniques.
● Knowledge of relevant public health laws, guidelines, and rules pertaining to student
health care and nursing care services.
● Knowledge of medical terminology, diseases, current healthcare issues, concerns, and
trends.
● Ability to demonstrate confidentiality.
● Proficient in the use of Google Workspace (formerly G-Suite) application.
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
● Ability to show initiative in resolving problems.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program Coordinator & Instructor

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program Coordinator & Instructor 

Position Purpose:
The Adult Basic Education Program Coordinator is responsible for providing SCRED-wide leadership and strategic focus in planning, promoting, coordinating, evaluating, and ensuring a sustainable Adult Basic Education Program. This position develops working relationships with community organizations and facilities, post-secondary institutions, state agencies, workforce centers, Metro East ABE Consortium, and the Chisago and Pine County Jails to help learners meet the objectives of the Adult Basic Education program. ABE programming includes adult basic skills, GED preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL), Functional Workforce literacy, and other programs based on student need.

Essential Duties:

Program Coordination

  • Coordinate ABE programming for the SCRED districts as a member of the larger Metro East Consortium
  • Plan and facilitate ABE staff meetings on a regularly basis to promote a continuum of programming across districts
  • Assist sites in the creation of outreach, program promotion, and recruitment activities
  • Ensure high quality programming in the areas of GED prep, Basic Skills prep, English Language Learners, and Transition to Post-Secondary Education
  • Seek out and assist in the development of innovative programming, including relevant grant opportunities
  • Monitor the implementation of all ABE mandates
  • Deliver ABE instruction, when warranted by program needs
  • Plan and facilitate Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) meetings on a regular basis to promote networking and sharing ideas/resources across districts not only for the Project SEEK program, but school year GATE programming as well.
  • Coordinate a high-quality summer enrichment experience for students across the SCRED member districts.

Interagency Collaboration & Communication

  • Establish collaborative partnerships with key community organizations and businesses, stakeholders and state agencies to ensure program viability and assist in the development of joint programming
  • Act as the liaison for the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and the Metro East Consortium
  • Complete and submit reports to the consortium partners
  • Write policies and procedures to ensure complaint ABE programming
  • Attend Metro East ABE Consortium Partner Meetings
  • Represent ABE at the local Community Education Advisory meetings

Resource Management

  • Develop a program budget and maintain UFARS records for program expenditures
  • Maintain and report UFARS and student records necessary for participation with Metro East Consortium
  • Coordinate program staffing, including hiring and onboarding, to ensure a high-quality educational experience
  • Provide training to ABE staff on electronic data reporting practices required to generate the ABE Final Report and Grant Application in cooperation with Metro East ABE Consortium
  • Develop the ABE grant application and fiscal reports as needed by the Metro East Consortium
  • Coordinate volunteer tutor activities
  • Lead in the identification, writing, and management of grants to supplement ABE programming

Professional Learning

  • Facilitate professional learning opportunities for ABE instructors based on staff and student needs
  • Coordinate additional professional learning opportunities for ABE instructors (e.g., attendance at regional and state ABE conferences)
  • Maintain a professional lending library for ABE staff
  • Attend regional and state in-service training to provide technical assistance to ABE staff

Direct Online Instruction

  • Provide direct instruction in ABE content areas in a virtual platform
  • Select and develop curricula which motivates and reflects the goals, needs, interests and expectations of the learner.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned

LTS – 6th Grade

C.E. Jacobson Elementary is looking for a full-time, long-term substitute teacher for 6th Grade. This position will run from approximately mid October through the first part of January 2024. Our 5th and 6th grade students’ function in a middle-school-style model and this teacher will spend 85% of their time teaching a specific content area as well as instructional support for all content areas.
