Literacy Coach

Summary/Objective: The Literacy Coach will support implementation of structured literacy in schools requesting
coaching and training support. Literacy coaches must have the ability to support teachers, school reading coaches, interventionists, and administrators in planning, organizing, and delivering instruction to meet individual and school needs. Support will be both in person and virtual (synchronous and asynchronous). Literacy coaches will also be responsible for developing and delivering professional learning opportunities as it relates to school needs in structured literacy evidence-based practices. Coaches will be trained as local LETRS 3E Facilitators to support providing professional learning in LETRS to member districts. This position is contingent upon legislative funding.

Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Familiarize teachers and administration with the research on foundational reading skills which include all components of language and the science of reading.
2. Impart knowledge of the MN ELA standards in each grade level and WIDA ELD standards.
3. Know and support teachers and administration in alignment of curriculum, standards, statewide initiatives, instruction, and assessment.
4. Understand and support learning for multilingual learners and students receiving special education services.
5. Familiarize and guide teachers and administrators with research-based practices in literacy instruction.
6. Provide teachers with a collection of effective instructional strategies to draw upon in their instructional practices.
7. Utilize state-wide COMPASS pedagogical and training supports in coaching.
8. Support data collection and analysis to ensure data is being used effectively to inform instruction to support student growth and achievement.
9. Work with administrators to create school-wide focus on goals for literacy (reading and writing) achievement.
10. Understand adult learning and create a collaborative partnership with teachers to support the implementation of new teaching practices in the classroom.
11. Facilitate meetings for professional learning on instructional practices, data support, classroom environments, or literacy research needed to support ongoing development of teachers.
12. Complete observation and feedback cycles at least monthly to support teacher goal setting and implementation of new practices.
13. Participate fully in professional development opportunities and professional research and reading.
14. Attend all professional learning offered by COMPASS.

15. Regularly communicate with school administrators, reading specialists, colleagues, and experts in order to keep well-informed of the current and developing research.
16. Work collectively with peers and MN Department of Education in reflecting on personal learning and how that learning supports student achievement and growth of students.
17. Participate in communities of practice with colleagues to deepen coaching understanding.
18. Other duties as assigned.

Environment & Physical Demands
This job operates in a hybrid office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some office organization and event set-up/tear-down is required. This would require the ability to move and lift 30 lbs., stand for extended periods of time and carry items a short distance as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, 12-month position. Hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but occasional evening events and travel within the region is expected.

Elementary Teacher – 6th Grade – Science/Social Studies Focus

Floating Paraprofessional

Assignment Location: This position will be a floating position and will work where most needed throughout the Cooperative’s eight alternative programs.

Hours per Day: 7

Schedule: 177 day contract per school calendar

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: Placement per the MSEA contract for Paras, based on applicable experience

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Special Education Paraprofessional works with students assigned to the special education program or service, under the direction of the licensed staff and performs duties to support the program in general. This includes, but is not limited to providing data-driven instructional support, personal care and behavioral assistance to students with special needs. Depending on student needs, responsibilities and duties may involve assisting and guiding students daily living skills, implementing behavior plans and /or monitoring and enforcing appropriate skills in accordance with instructional lesson plans and student Individualized Education Plans (IEP).

ABOUT CORNERSTONES:
Cornerstones is a therapeutic setting IV, multi-school district program located at the Wright Technical Center in Buffalo, MN and managed by MAWSECO. This program serves adolescents, grades 7-12 with emotional and behavioral needs that cannot be met within their home school district. The primary goal of the program is to provide educational support along with social skills training to acquire skills necessary to become independent learners in order to return to their home district as soon as possible.

ABOUT EASTERN WRIGHT:
The Eastern Wright Program is an intermediate level (grades 6-8) federal setting IV special education program designed to meet the needs of students who experience significant emotional and/or behavioral disabilities. The program is located in the Wright Technical Center. The primary goal of the program is to provide social skills and educational support to reduce stress and acquire skills in the emotional, behavioral, social and academic areas and return to the mainstream school as soon as possible. By reaching goals determined by the IEP team, which includes the parents, the Eastern Wright program is able to positively affect the future development and success of each student served.

ABOUT JOURNEYS:
The Journeys program is located at the MAWSECO Education Center in Howard Lake and serves children with behavioral needs in grades K-4. It is a multi-district program and is managed by Meeker & Wright Special Education Cooperative. Journeys serves young students with behavioral needs that cannot be met within their home school district. Students receive academic classes, social, and life skills which are individualized to foster learning and successful interactions with peers and adults. Students are recommended for these services by their IEP team and with the approval of district administration. The students reintegrate, as appropriate, back to their home school as recommended by the IEP team.

ABOUT SHOLUND:
Sholund School for Girls is located in Annandale, MN and is the educational facility on the grounds of Village Ranch, Inc. Residential facility. This program started in November of 2016 and serves girls in grades 8-12. The educational program provides a flexible and safe environment in which students can experience educational success. Enrollment is made up of students primarily living in the Village Ranch residence.

ABOUT STEP:
STEP (Student Transitioning in Educational Programming) is an educational program for young adults ages 18-21 with special needs. It is a community-based special education program emphasizing work experience and independent living skills. The 18-21 year old program services students who have completed high school requirements but are in need of extended schooling in two of the transition areas listed: Independent Living; Employment; Post Secondary Education and Training. The program was designed to meet these needs in the least restrictive, age appropriate environment.

ABOUT TREK:
TREK is a program designed for students who have been identified as having severe communication or neurological disorders. The target population for this program includes students who have been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorders or Developmental Cognitive Disorders and exhibit behavioral patterns which negatively affect the ability to interact with peers or adults in the regular school setting. TREK provides program solutions to effectively create an environment of successful learners.

ABOUT VILLAGE RANCH:
Village Ranch Alternative Program (VRAP) is located in Cokato, MN and is an educational facility on the grounds of the Village Ranch, Inc. Residential facility. The educational program provides a flexible and safe environment in which students can experience educational success. VRAP serves boys ages 12 – 18 some of whom have pre-identified disabilities. Enrollment is made up of boys primarily living in the Village Ranch residence.

ABOUT WINGS:
The Wings Alternative Program, located in Litchfield, MN is a residential treatment center for chemical dependency. The program serves male and female adolescents ages 14 years and older from throughout Minnesota and from other states. MAWSECO staff members provide educational services to students attending this program.

ABOUT MAWSECO:
MAWSECO is an agency of seven-member school districts (Annandale, Dassel-Cokato, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Litchfield, Maple Lake and Rockford) that have joined together to provide services in the area of special education. The mission of the Cooperative is to provide quality special education leadership, services, and support to its seven-member school districts’ staff, students and families as well as other agencies/districts that purchase its services. The MAWSECO central office is located in Howard Lake, MN which is west of the metro and south of St. Cloud.

Bookkeeper/Accounting Coordinator

Rush City Schools is seeking a full time, 12 month, 260 day Bookkeeping/Accounting Coordinator to start July 1, 2023. Part time work may be available prior to July 1st. This position supports the Business Manager and performs daily accounting, data entry, audit support, and administrative duties. Primary duties include posting data to various accounts, reconciliation and reporting of internal and financial accounts, coding and monitoring of new and existing Federal, State and local grants. Other duties of a similar nature may also be assigned.

Candidates must have excellent organization, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to fulfill Rush City Schools mission statement. Salary is based upon experience/qualifications.

Short-Call Substitute Teachers – Full Year Assignment

Rush City Schools is currently seeking two (2) full year daily substitute teachers for the 2023-24 school year. One will typically support the high school and the other our elementary school. The ideal candidate will be flexible in covering all grade levels K-12 and possess the ability to work with all students. These individuals will report for duty on all student contact days from approximately 7:45 am – 3:15 pm daily.
