Position Purpose:
The Secondary Academic Services Coordinator position assists SCRED member districts in implementing a continuum of academic support for all students within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This position provides collaboration and consultation on specific student cases and overall programming, creates and facilitates high quality professional learning opportunities for member district staff, and assists in the coordination of service delivery to ensure students are receiving effective instruction designed to meet their needs in their least restrictive environment. This position provides targeted support to member districts with regard to secondary academics, including literacy and math.
Essential Duties:
- Collaboration & Consultation
- Collaborate with district, building, and/or grade level teams to review the effectiveness of instruction and foster continuous improvement using student outcome data
- Provide on-site coaching and support for the implementation of evidence-based Academic practices across all prevention levels within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework
- Guide staff in the creation of special education evaluation plans that equip teams to identify students who have Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and their educational needs
- Support staff in the development of IEPs that are designed to meet the unique secondary literacy and math needs of students with SLD
- Consult with general and special education staff regarding students who are not responding to instruction and/or skill interventions
- Promote collaboration between general education and special education staff regarding accommodations and modifications that may help students to reach their IEP goals and access the general curriculum
- Collaborate with IEP teams to develop effective programs for students with significant and unique secondary literacy and math needs
- Provide guidance to member districts around state academic requirements
- Professional Learning
- Engage in professional learning opportunities aligned with identified goals/needs to inform professional learning opportunities related to academic programming
- Develop professional learning plans in collaboration with the SCRED Services Coordination Team to ensure alignment with identified goals/needs and messaging across districts and service areas
- Develop the professional learning plan and budget for the Academic Services and Outcomes service areas in collaboration with Academic Services Team
- Facilitate professional learning using effective adult learning strategies on a variety of academic topics, including the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, and program evaluation
- Provide on-site coaching and support to enhance implementation of best practices in secondary academic instruction
- Coordination of Service Delivery
- Provide implementation assistance to member districts in regard to MTSS (e.g., data facilitators, problem-solving teams, grade/department level teams, case managers, school psychologists, administrators)
- Facilitate the implementation of best practices in secondary academic assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, and program evaluation
- Assist in conducting needs assessments to support various resource allocation and/or programming decisions
- Secure and disseminate resource materials and equipment for academic-related needs that can be shared across districts
- Support teams in planning for transitions of students with literacy and math needs between buildings (i.e., from elementary to secondary)
- Participate and/or facilitate SCRED internal meetings and workgroups as assigned
- Facilitate stakeholder (e.g., superintendents, principals, curriculum directors, GOM coordinators) involvement and decision-making for database systems and screening/progress monitoring assessments
- Coordinate the use of database systems for effective MTSS implementation
- Support districts in meeting child find requirements related to the implementation of Scientific Research-Based Interventions
- Provide work direction to the Outcomes Coordinator and the administrative assistant supporting the Academic Services Team

School Psychologist for Meeker and Wright Special Education Cooperative
1.0 FTE Position for the 2022-2023 school year
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
- Conducts individual psychological assessments and evaluate students for special education needs
- Shares evaluation information with parents, school personnel, and other agencies and makes program recommendations for students
- Works with team members on the planning and implementation of intervention strategies
- Contributes actively as an integral member of the assessment team
- Collaborates and work with other school psychologists within MAWSECO
- Cooperatively develops, implements and monitors individual plans and programs for specific students as well as provides staff and parent consultation and training on implementation of individualized plans
- Facilitates communication between administrators, teachers and parents regarding student needs
- Promotes and maintains high safety, ethical and confidentiality standards
- Adheres to due process law
- Develops and provides professional development for member districts and MAWSECO special education programs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed or eligible for licensure in Minnesota as a School Psychologist
- School Psychologist Interns are encouraged to apply

Alternative Site Specialist
1.0 FTE Alternative Site Specialist at the Wright Technical Center located at 1405 3rd Ave NE, Buffalo, MN 55313 and serving the Cornerstones and Eastern Wright Programs.
Position Description:
The Alternative Site Specialist works with the Executive Director to develop and coordinate the Program(s) to assure all special education students are served appropriately. Representative duties include monitoring and ensuring compliance with special education due process procedures/laws/requirements and paperwork to staff or member district administrator(s); coordinates staff development; facilitates special education transportation; participates in IEP meetings; makes recommendations for budgetary needs/requirements and staffing allocations/needs; serves as a resources and liaison between member district(s) or program(s) and MAWSECO; assists in the design and implementation of curriculum, instructional methodology, programming, and facility needs.
Required Qualifications:
Requires a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Special Education or closely related field and at least 4 years’ experience in the area of special education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires State of MN Teacher Licensure in Special Education and an Administrative License, or the ability to obtain one. Valid MN driver’s license is also required.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with special education service and educational leadership. Knowledgeable with alternative to suspension practices, positive behavioral interventions and supports and experience transforming a team or organizational unit.
Background Information:
Cornerstones: This program is a multi-school district program located at the Wright Technical Center in Buffalo and managed by MAWSECO. It serves adolescents, grades 7-12 with EBD needs that cannot be met within their home school district. Students are recommended for this program by their IEP/IIIP team with approval of the district administration.Eastern Wright: This program is an intermediate (grades 5-7) combination skills and educational program. All youth attending come from surrounding communities and have been identified with emotional and/or behavioral disorders or have significant behavior concerns. The primary goal of the program is to provide social skills and educational support to reduce stress and acquire skills in the emotional, behavioral, social, and academic areas so the student may return to the mainstream school as soon as possible.
