Educational Leadership Assistant Professor

The Department of Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University, Mankato invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses across all department programs (EdD, EdS, and MS) through the lens of racial equity and social justice. The successful candidate will provide students with advising throughout their programs, actively pursuing continued professional development, engage in scholarly activity that leads to publication and presentations, and provide service to the department, college, university, and community.

 

A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to eighteen (18) credits of instruction per academic year.

The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified. May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university’s additional locations, as assigned. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.

All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement)

The successful candidate will advise graduate students and doctoral candidates through coursework and research; facilitate dissertation, thesis and other culminating/capstone program projects.

The successful candidate will advocate for racial equity within and beyond the department.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructor

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructor

Position Details:
This position is currently a .75 full time equivalency (FTE) with the potential to increase to full-time based on student hours. The position currently serves adult learners in the Chisago Lakes, North Branch and Rush City area offering instruction both virtually and in-person. The anticipated start date for the position is August 16, 2021.

Position Purpose:
Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructors are responsible to plan, implement, and assess curriculum for ABE students. This includes, but is not limited to: General Educational Development (GED), English as a Second Language (ESL), US Citizenship, Adult Diploma, digital literacy, workplace skills, career and post-secondary planning, basic literacy and numeracy. Instructors will help monitor and improve student and program outcomes.

Essential Duties:

  • Curriculum and Instruction
    • Provide direct instruction in ABE content areas
    • Select and develop curricula which motivates and reflects the goals, needs, interests and expectations of the learner
    • Direct volunteers as needed
    • Facilitate volunteer literacy tutors/student matches
    • Establish and maintain an appropriate environment for adult learning
    • Demonstrate organizational skills for managing multi-level classrooms
  • Advising, Mentoring, and Counseling
    • Create and update individual learner plans and goals based on knowledge of adult student characteristics
    • Provide intake, evaluation, referral, placement and support for adult learners who contact the program
    • Design and implement a program that promotes student retention and goal attainment
  • Program Promotion
    • Seek out opportunities to promote the program
    • Participate in existing program promotion activities
    • Act as a representative of the program in the community
  • Data Management and Accountability
    • Maintain all registration and attendance data for ABE reporting requirements
    • Collect and monitor student data per MDE requirements
  • Professional Development
    • Attend district staff meetings and consortium meetings
    • Participate in regional and state in-service training
    • Complete all current/required state and district training
  • Other Duties
    • Perform other duties as assigned

School Psychologist – MpL

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

-Conduct individual psychological assessments and evaluate students for special education needs
-Share evaluation information with parents, school personnel and other agencies and make programming recommendations for students
-Contribute actively as an integral member of the assessment team (Maple Lake Public Schools has an assessment teacher model)
-Collaborate and work with other school psychologists within MAWSECO
-Work with team members on the planning and implementation of intervention strategies
-Cooperatively develop, implement and monitor individual plans for specific students as well as provide staff training on implementation of individualized plans
-Facilitate communication between administrators, teachers and parents regarding student needs
-Promote and maintain high ethical and confidentiality standards
-Adhere to due process law
