School Social Worker

The Wright Technical Center – ISD #966 in Buffalo, MN is seeking a qualified applicant for a .5 FTE School Social worker for the 2020-21 school year. This position will primarily work with students grade 7-12 in the ALC program.

Position Description: The school social worker will help to foster an educational environment which is supportive of a student’s social/emotional and academic needs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop interventions for promoting student academic and behavioral success in the classroom
  • Review student records to identify previous barriers and/or interventions.
  • Help students develop communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Provide social work case management for students with mental health issues
  • Provide individual to students and their families as needed
  • Serve as liaison between school, family and community agencies
  • Assist parents with accessing community services as needed/requested
  • Provide staff training and parent education
  • Serve on the Student Support Team (SST) and district crisis team
  • Engage in individual, family and school crisis intervention
  • Other related duties as assigned

Middle Level – Teacher

Position Description:

To oversee the academic, social/emotional and behavioral needs of students in a 7-8 Middle Level self-contained classroom. The classroom instructor will be supported by a para-profesional, social worker and additional teaching staff throughout the school day.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Instruct students in multiple core academic areas and grade levels (Math, English, Science or Social Studies)
  • Provide assistance with de-escalating student behaviors
  • Develop and implement components of a Behavioral Intervention Plan (BIP).
  • Build effective relationships with students and staff.
  • Collaborate with building administration, teachers, families, students, and others as needed for the purpose of implementing individualized learning plans.
  • Support Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) initiatives.

Ongoing position to start the 2020-2021 school year, serving the Dassel-Cokato school district, #0466.

 

Background Information:  MAWSECO is an agency of seven member school districts (Annandale, Dassel-Cokato, Delano, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Litchfield, Maple Lake and Rockford) that have joined together to provide services in the area of special education. The mission of the Cooperative is to provide quality special education leadership, services and support to its seven member school districts’ staff, students and families as well as other agencies/districts that purchase its services.  The MAWSECO central office is located in Howard Lake, MN which is west of the metro and south of St. Cloud.

Responsibilities:

The Special Education Coordinator develops and coordinates the Cooperative and district child study system to assure all students with disabilities are served appropriately.  This includes assisting with staff recruitment, monitoring compliance of due process procedures, staff orientation and staff development, curriculum and program design and implementation, management functions related to assigned districts, activities and staff.  Staff includes teachers and assistants and other related and support service personnel as assigned.

 

Family & Consumer Science Teacher (FACS)
