SUPERVISION:
Central MN Adult Basic Education Staff

QUALIFICATIONS:
RequiredBachelor’s degree in education or related field
2-4 years of professional level experience in adult basic education programming
2-4 years experience training, supervising, and evaluating staff
Knowledge of the following: state and federal law and policy pertinent to adult basic education; current research, trends, and best practices, integration of technology into programming, adult basic education data/MDE databases, grant writing, grant management, use of analytics and demonstrated experience of successful collaborations and partnerships
Experiences serving non-traditional populations with the demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people of diverse educational, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds to promote educational success; excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem solving skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple assignments independently and with high performance standards and consistent follow through
Ability to work well under pressure and adhere to district policies and protocols with respect to confidentiality and data privacy
PreferredMaster’s Degree in Education or related field
Experience working with diverse learners
Administrative license issued by MDE or in a program to achieve licensure.
Experience in use of software applications for program scheduling, program promotion and data retention (e.g. Student Information System or S.I.D.)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Community Education, the Supervisor of The Adult Basic Education Program supervises staff in support of the academic needs of our students; interprets, enforces and assures compliance with Federal, state, and local laws, and local and state regulations and policies.

SALARY:
Salary is subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement and work experience

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Supervises the Central MN Adult Basic Education consortium to meet consortium needs and deliver high quality learning programs to our students daily in the Central Minnesota Adult Basic Education Consortium and partnership sites; assures Central Minnesota ABE is in compliance with state and Federal regulations in order to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for Central Minnesota students and staff
Provides training to Central Minnesota Adult Basic Education staff on programs and policies, develops staff skills, and consistently provides coaching and feedback about performance
Oversees academic course offerings, curriculum development including career pathways, and instructional schedule in collaboration with Adult Education staff and community agencies
Builds partnerships with Central Minnesota Adult Basic Education agencies with similar missions including Central Minnesota Workforce Center and other organizations serving adults
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively verbally and written to work with a diverse workforce and student population to prioritize and delegate projects, exchange ideas, information and opinions effectively with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive at decisions, conclusions or solutions
Monitors operations and assures the quality of the services and work products
Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, visitors, and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and information
Willingness to occasionally work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position
Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent’s and Executive Director of Community Education goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Understanding and applying state and Federal statutes, codes, rules, and regulations
Reviewing operations and assuring Central Minnesota consortium compliance with Adult Basic Education laws, regulations, and rules
Recruiting, training and retaining a diverse workforce reflecting the students served
Assessing, analyzing, and identifying problems, and recommending and implements effective solutions
Researching, collecting, analyzing, and preparing data and generating reports
Managing staff, delegating tasks and authority, and evaluating staff performance using District and/or program tools
Working in diverse, multicultural environments
Building positive relationships with elected officials, District leadership, Central Minnesota ABE consortium members and K-12 school staff
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead through change
Effectively facilitating meetings and working with a variety of community groups
Providing effective customer service, and dealing tactfully and courteously with the staff/public
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, adult students, advocates and representatives from community groups and government agencies
Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing; ability to make formal presentations in front of large groups
Other duties as assigned
