Assistant Director of Student Services
JOB GOAL: Under the supervision of the Student Services Director, manages the implementation of special services programming and continuously oversees staff and students (ages B 21) in the Hudson School District. The Assistant Director plays a pivotal leadership role in creating & sustaining an effective environment conducive to the education for all learners. This responsibility is performed following District policy and State/Federal Laws. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Assist the Student Services Director with budgeting for programs/buildings. 2. Design, manage and develop special education programs and related areas. 3. Supervision & coordination of secondary programming. 4. Supervision of special education staff as assigned. 5. Extended School Year (ESY) organization and oversight. 6. Collaborate with and work closely with the Student Services Director and building principals in addressing special education licensed staff evaluations, hiring, and personnel actions. 7. Organize and implement staff development opportunities for special education staff. 8. Assist with the training & orientation of newly-hired staff (i.e. teachers & paraprofessionals). 9. Serve as the district representative at a variety of local, county, and state meetings, including IEP meetings for students placed out of district (e.g. 916). 10. Assist with transportation and third-party billing activities. 11. Work with transportation department when student discipline issues arise on bus routes. 12. Guide and oversee child -ind and child study systems in the Hudson School District. 13. Mediate conflicts within IEP teams and manage the dispute resolution process to assure compliance standards have been met. 14. Aid licensed staff with due process related issues, including SpedForms questions. 15. Assist the Student Services Director with reviewing files, training staff, and organizing to help DPI monitoring run smoothly. 16. Develop and lead staff professional development, including providing new teacher training. 17. Other duties as assigned.
