Aspen Academy is currently hiring a 1.0 FTE K-8 Art Teacher for the 2017-18 school year. A strong candidate will be able to work with students, collaborate with staff (including partnering with another Art Teacher), and parents to ensure student success in a variety of areas, i.e. clay and kiln work, project history, natural products used for creative arts, art showings and much more. Aspen Academy is a successful and expanding charter school in the Savage/Prior Lake area. Our mission is to provide all students with a well-rounded, Liberal Arts Core Knowledge curriculum based education which meets the intellectual, creative, and social needs of each student.

Special Education Evaluation Teacher
TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER Academic Evaluation QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Minnesota licensure. 2.Commitment to teaching as a profession. 3.Positive, collaborative, innovative attitude with passion for education. REPORTS TO:Director of Special Education and/or Principal A.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Conduct the academic component for initial evaluations and three-year re-evaluations. 2.Carry out classroom observations as needed. 3.Produce written evaluations that align with federal and MDE requirements. 4.Attend assessment summary meetings and explain evaluation results in an articulate and conversational format. 5.Provide detailed information regarding eligibility criteria. 6.Provide excellent communication via written and verbal formats. 7.Attend IEP meetings as needed. 8.Collaborate with case managers to provide input for initial IEPs as needed. 9.Collaborate with Child Study Teams, Problem Solving Teams, general educators, special educators and administration as needed. 10.Remain current with due process requirements. B.PLANNING AND PREPARATION: 1.Understands learning theory, subject matter, curriculum development, and student development and how to use this knowledge in planning instruction to meet curriculum goals and make connections with other disciplines. 2.Demonstrates thorough knowledge of students’ backgrounds, skills, special needs, talents, and interests, and uses this knowledge to plan for student learning. 3.Utilizes resources available for teaching and knows how to gain access to school and district resources for students who need them. C.PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Engages continuously in reflective practice. 2.Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, school board policy, district procedures, and administrative directives. 3.Utilizes personal communication, technology, and other means to share with teams and engage families in the instructional process. 4.Actively participates in district and school meetings, projects, and committees with the intent of providing constructive input. 5.Seeks professional growth by participating in professional development activities, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing to the teaching profession. 6.Dresses and presents self in a professional manner to students, parents and the community. 7.Makes genuine and persistent efforts towards helping all students achieve success. 8.Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designee consistent with the terms of the teachers’ collective bargaining agreement.
