Job Summary Academy of Whole Learning, a K12 private school with a focus on students with autism spectrum disorder and related learning differences, is seeking an EL Director with strong teaching abilities, an understanding of pedagogy and instructional practices in elementary, secondary and special education, and an enthusiasm for connecting learning to real life application. The AOWL EL Director plays a critical role in the success of our student population and is an integral part of the Academy Leadership Team. The EL Director oversees student programming while working closely with special education teachers and grade level teams. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with grade level and vertical teams. The EL Director acts as the academic leader of the school, responsible for its day-to-day operation. Essential Job Functions *Consultation oAdvise the Leadership Teams and Board of Directors on all legal issues related to special education policies, procedures, and services oAdvise parents and provide information regarding special education and related service provisions at Academy of Whole Learning oServe as a consultant to teachers in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general school procedures *Supervision oServe on all IEP Teams as the School Representative oSupervise all education delivery services to include monitoring the implementation of all Individual Program Plans and IEP services for fidelity of instructional model; including consultation for Summer Programming oSecure and monitor contract personnel as needed for the provision of psychological services, speech therapy services, occupational therapy, physical therapy and related services oSupervise, train, evaluate, and support the teaching staff oEstablish programs for the orientation of new teachers, for in-service training of all teachers, and for the evaluation of classroom teachers, to ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school operation *Compliance & Monitoring oReview and revise policies and procedures for the implementation of individual accommodations, modifications, and interventions for monitoring special education and related services oReview and revise policies to uniformly address, document, and file all incident reports for occurrences affecting a special education student, including disciplinary and supervisory data oEnsure compliance with legal requirements of government regulations and agencies; to maintain the educational standards established by the State of Minnesota and by those agencies that examine and accredit the school oDevelop and provide timely submission of all grants and budgets oResearch additional grant/funding source opportunities and submit for consideration oMonitor all Academy of Whole Learning active student records K12 for accuracy and maintain inactive files for retrieval oCoordinate student testing and ensure necessary accommodations are implemented *Training oAttend meetings and conferences pertaining to special and general education operations and grant implementation oConduct regular meetings with faculty and staff, which will deal both with routine school matters and with the stimulating exchange of ideas on issues of educational/philosophical interest and concern oEnsure faculty and staff are well versed in all requirements to implement student Individualized Program Plans oProvide annual staff training oSupport teachers and the Leadership Teams in the intervention process by being a resource to provide research-based academic and social intervention information *Collaboration oIn conjunction with the Human Resources Coordinator, monitor certification, licensure, insurance appropriate for special and general education staff and contract personnel oIn conjunction with the Business Manager, monitor all budgetary submissions and maintenance of revisions to grants oIn conjunction with the Activities Coordinator, assist in the planning and the presentation of school assemblies and programs; to assist in maintaining a comprehensive calendar of school events; to keep the entire school community informed of various school programs and activities oIn conjunction with the Admissions Coordinator, assist in the admission process for the testing, interviewing, and evaluating of applicants for enrollment oIn conjunction with the Behavior Specialist, support student behaviors plans, ensure consistent follow-through, collaborate to problem solve students transitions, behavioral concerns and social anxieties, and coordinate classroom meetings oCoordinate speech, occupational and physical therapy schedules and information sharing oSupport school-wide vision and hearing screenings in grades 1, 3, and 6 with nonpublic health nurse oProvide interventions and direct student instruction on a case by case basis as the need arises oProvide collaborative intervention supports for special and general education teachers oMaintain open communication with teachers, parents, and outside agencies *Administration oAct as the academic leader of the school, responsible for its day-to-day operation: scheduling of students, overseeing of the academic advising, and college counseling programs; monitoring student academic progress oObserve, supervise, and help evaluate the faculty in the development and implementation of curriculum; to supervise the teaching process, and to review and evaluate the academic programs oMake recommendations to the head of school regarding the hiring and retention, and the assignment of faculty oProvide for the academic guidance of students; Case manager

They will have a caseload of students, facilitate IEPs / IEP Meetings, participate in student evaluations, and provide creative instruction. At HSRA, Case Managers are given the opportunity to develop in-depth relationships with their students and support to their families to create IEPs that truly serve the student.
