Half time position available. Essential Functions: Coordinates health services program in assigned school and/or program. Assists in the development and revision of school district policies, procedures and guidelines regarding health. Develops and implements emergency care plans for students with life threatening health conditions and individualized health care plans for students with acute or chronic health conditions that require daily health services to meet student health needs. Provides first aid, emergency care and health services to students and staff. Administers medications and specialized health care procedures. Delegates nursing functions to others with appropriate assessment, teaching, monitoring and supervision according to Minnesota Nurse Practices Act. Provides assessment and referral for students with health conditions and other conditions required under the mandated reporter statutes. Participant of Child Study and 504 teams assisting in the identification of students with disabilities, assessment of health and sensory status, development of the evaluation reports and development, implementation and evaluation of health related accommodations and services on the Individualized Education Plan. Conducts and coordinates health screening program in assigned schools. Maintains and annually reviews student health records to ensure documentation and compliance with state mandates. Communicates and collaborates with student support service staff, administrators, teachers and parents/guardians in planning and implementing accommodations for students having difficulty learning. Collaborates with parents/guardians, community health care providers and agencies to identify and manage the health needs of students. Assists students and parents/guardians to identify and utilize community health resources; provides health education materials and resources to teachers and staff. Provides individualized health education and counseling to students to assist them in making decisions regarding their health and behaviors and to develop self-care skills. Assists in identifying and reporting environmental health and safety hazards for students and staff. Maintains a system for documentation of student health office visits, incident/accident reports, and administration of medication and specialized health care procedures. Provides oversight of health assistants and nurse paraprofessionals; assigns, delegates and participates in evaluations of the work performance of health assistants and nurse paraprofessionals. Maintains health office facilities and supplies. Participates in professional development training; local, regional and state meetings. Creates a positive relationship with the customer to ensure the interaction the customer has with the district is an efficient and satisfying experience. Performs other duties as assigned.
